Life, force. Dypthic

Text: Extract.
“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy which is translated through you into action and because there is only one of you in all times, this expression is unique. If you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost…”
Author: Martha Graham.

Divine Dissatisfaction

from The Life and Work of Martha Graham:
“No artist is ever pleased... there is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction; a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive than the others”

This artwork will form part of the Hans-Joachim Burgert ´s collection of calligraphy in the Akademie der Künst in Berlin, Germany.

In 2010 I was invited by Thomas Ingmire, famous calligrapher and advisor to contribute to the Hans-Joachim Burgert ´s collection of calligraphy instituted at the Akademie der Künst in Berlin. In his words:
“Part of my responsibility has been to recommend and invite accomplished artists to contribute works to the collection. The body of work that has already been assembled is amazing with over 1000 works. And the Akademie, having undergone a recent restoration, is a prominent modern architectural building just adjacent to the Brandenburg gate. The collection is growing slowly, but I believe it is only a matter of time before it will become one of the most significant calligraphy collections in the world”. Thomas Ingmire.

Shadow of a cherry tree

Original text in Spanish by Marina Soria. Translated text:
“Her mind was empty, her senses attentive, her breath rythmic.
She lay on her back over the green carpet. Light slightly filtered through the cherry tree leaves.
Like in an impressionist painting, the sky and the green interlaced. Her silk kimono caressed her legs and the drawings, those which she had carefully embroided, started rising from the fabric to float in a secret dance over her motionless body.
A sound of water running could be heard from afar like a monotonous music, and the smell from the grass, together with the sweet tatami cherry, drove her to another world.
At this time, or centuries before, two women interweave the same dreams underneath the shadow of the same cherry tree.”

The essential is invisible to the eye

“Go and look again at the roses. You will understand now that yours is unique in the entire world. Then come back to say goodbye to me, And I will give you a secret as a present.” “And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that you can see rightly, What is essential is invisible to the eye.” ”It is the time you have devoted to your rose That makes your rose so important.” ”Men have forgotten this truth, said the fox But you must not forget it. You become responsible for ever, For what you have tamed. You are responsible for your rose...” El Principito. Antoine de Saint Exúpery.
